Oooops!
I think I forgot to mention there is a Book Fair in the library today and tomorrow. Today it is open from 11:00 to 2:00, and tomorrow from 8:30 to 3:30. If you do not have time to shop with your child after or before the music program tomorrow, you may just send money with your child and the volunteers will help them shop. Thanks!
Big Day Tomorrow!
Tomorrow is our day of Fine Arts. The first graders will be singing at 9:30a.m. After their concert you are welcome to stay a bit and visit the Art Fair in the grand hallway and art room. Just an FYI: Today is early dismissal at 1:40p.m.

ladybug reading rocks
Our ladybugs are all happily running around inside their habitat. We will watch them until Friday and then take them outside to release them. Today we made ladybug reading rocks. The special thing about them is they don't eat food. To keep them healthy you have to read aloud to them everyday! Enjoy the pics.

Ladybugs
Yes, we have ladybugs!! It's a bumper crop. We will watch them for a few days and then release them in the butterfly garden.
Spring Fever
Spring is in the air! Everyone is busy with outdoor activities and sports. I would like to congratulate those students who continue to consistently bring in their Monday reading sheet, AND read at least 100 minutes. Congratulations to Lexie, Seth, Keridon, Jake, Thomas, Katie, and Ellen (who usually reads over 200 minutes!) I am very proud of you!

Money Test
We will be having our test over counting change tomorrow. The test will only cover pennies, nickels and dimes. I will however give them a section the next day over quarters, just to see how much they have learned. Please help your child practice counting change tonight so they will be ready for the test tomorrow.

Money and Ladybugs
We are very busy practicing counting change. Please reinforce our efforts at home by giving your child a handful of change. Have your child sort the coins (largest amount to smallest amount) and then count it all up. We have not gone over 100 cents as yet.
In case you have not been informed, we also have some class pets. We are raising Ladybug larva. They will make a pupa next and then come out of the pupa as an adult Ladybug! We are keeping journals and charting their progress. Next week we are going to make Ladybug Reading Rocks. I need each student to bring a WASHED smooth rock to school. It can be any size, but no bigger than your fist. We will turn them into Ladybugs and read aloud to them everyday to keep them strong and healthy! Thanks so much for your help.

Schedule Change
I just wanted to let you know we have a small schedule change for the next three weeks. We have switched our block time with fifth grade. Our lunch and recess times will stay the same. This is to accommodate the MAP test for the upper grades. After the three weeks are up our schedule will return to normal. For the next 15 school days we will go to block time at 10:10a.m. instead of 2:10p.m.
