I can't believe I forgot to take photos today! The students voted to meet my dog Oscar as their 100 point celebration. I checked with the nurse to make sure no one was allergic to dogs, and then I ran home during block time to get Oscar. He had a wonderful time and so did they. We had our snacks with him. Oscar had his favorite snack, red pepper. Then we went outside and sat in a circle in the butterfly garden so Oscar could walk around and meet everyone. After recess we packed our bags and then Oscar did some tricks and played "Who has a treat in their hand?" Of course I did have an ulterior motive. I plan to use the experience as a writing prompt tomorrow. SHHHHH, don't tell! :-)

I want to thank all the parents who remembered to help their student fill out the yellow reading sheet each night and return it to school on Monday. We had 16 out of 18 sheets returned this morning! Each student who brings their sheet back on Monday with at least five of the seven days filled in receives a point for the class. Great job!
Mrs. Marcinkewiz came by to visit with us today and make sure we are getting started with good manners here at Kennerly. She also wanted to make sure everyone knew the counselor's job is to help the students. Hope you had a great three day weekend! Please remember our library day is Thursday. Thanks!

A Wedding Photo

Greg and I finally got married at the end of July. Here are a couple of photos. I am keeping my last name as Nickless. After thirty years of teaching, I don't think I want to confuse anyone with a new name.

Our Honeymoon

Greg and I are finally married! I don't have the wedding photos yet, but I have a few from our honeymoon at Lake Tahoe. It was amazing! Absolutely beautiful.

Hope you are all having a great summer! I'll be seeing you back at Kennerly very soon!

Fun in the backyard.

I hung a little tin bucket
with birdseed in it from the
holder. The little sparrows
and finches just love it!
This is a holder for Humming Bird food, that attaches to the window with suction cups.

This is my favorite photo to the left. I have so much fun watching them, I might have to bring it to school with me and put it on our classroom  window!

My trip to Maryland

The living room. Anna and Risa.
Anna's combination dining room and office.
Anna's tiny kitchen.

Risa, the cat, loves to snuggle!
My daughter picked me up at the Baltimore airport and we had a wonderful three days together. We went shopping and picked out some lamps and things for her apartment and hung some pictures on the walls. I met her newly rescued cat, one year old Risa. Risa loves to sleep under the dresser in the bedroom and watch thunderstorms with her nose pressed up against the window!
