TUESDAY FIELD TRIP

Just wanted to remind everyone about our field trip. We rescheduled the trip to Rockwoods Reservation for Tuesday, Feb. 18th. The trip takes about half an hour and they like to talk to all of us in one big group for a few minutes before they break us into three groups to move through the stations. PLEASE make sure your student is on time. We will be loading the kids on the bus at 8:42a.m. Please make sure you check the weather the evening before and dress your student appropriately. They will be outdoors for a solid hour and a half. Please have them wear boots and bring sneakers in a plastic bag. We will change into sneakers when we return to school and they will bring their boots home in the plastic bag. If you are going on the field trip please meet us there no later than 9:30a.m. THANKS!

Spreading Valentine Happiness

The first graders had a wonderful visit with the residents of Tesson Heights Retirement
Center. We gave them handmade Valentines and placemats. The residents were particularly impressed with our new iPads we brought along!

More Info

I finally heard back from Rockwoods. Our field trip will be February 19th. That is the day after  we have off for President's Day. I will try to send a reminder the night before so the students don't forget to wear their boots the next day. We will also need to bring a pair of sneakers in a plastic bag, so we can change into something dry when we return to school.
I sent a class list of names home with the students today to use when filling out Valentines. If your student chooses to bring Valentines to school, please make sure they bring one for each of their classmates. They can begin bringing them on Monday. I told the students they only had to put first names on the envelopes.

FYI

I just have a few things to update everyone on. First, I have not been given a new date by Rockwoods Reservation for our field trip yet. I will let you know as soon as I hear from them.
Second, the students reached 100 points and voted to have show and tell tomorrow to celebrate. The guidelines for show and tell are as follows: It can not be fragile. It has to be small enough to fit inside a zipped book bag. Also, it can not be alive.
Third, we are beginning our unit in math on money. I would like the students to bring in some change so we can practice counting the real thing. Please send the change in a ziplock bag with your student's name on the front. We will each need a bag containing 4 quarters, 10 dimes, 10 nickels, and 10 pennies.
Thank you so much for all your help!!

January Thaw

Can you believe we were out on the playground without jackets today? What is up with this crazy weather!

Reminders

Just a quick reminder. If you have not returned your student's permission slip for our field trip this Thursday, please do so as soon as possible. Everyone is required to wear boots. Even if it is not snowy or icy it will probably be muddy. Goodness knows I have no idea what the temperature will be by Thursday.
Also, the Super Dad's Breakfast is Friday. If you have not made a reservation yet I think you may still do so by calling the office. (720-2440)

Happy 100th Day of School

We had lots of fun activities today. We drew self portraits 93 years into the future. We wrote about our favorite activities of the last 100 days. We wrote about what we would do with $100. We even did 100 exercises!!
