Our iPads Are Here!!

We are so excited to use our new iPads! The students are having no trouble at tall transitioning from PC's to iPads!

Quick FYI

Our Christmas program for the first grade students is next Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 9:30am. Please have your student dress nicely and appropriately for the stage. Also, PLEASE do not let them wear a hat because this can block the face of whomever is standing behind them on the risers. Thank you so much for your help.
The last day for students before winter break will be Dec. 20. School will resume Jan. 3. If I do not see you at the Christmas party or the Winter Program, I hope you have a wonderful holiday break!

Sneaky Elves

The students are all abuzz about the antics of their elves, so we turned it into a writing lesson!

Quiet chairs

Thanks to Mrs. Blackwood for donating all the black felt for our chair legs!

Kid's Korner

Just a reminder: an envelope went home with Wednesday notes yesterday, for the Kid's Korner shop that will be set up in the library for one day only during school. It will also be set up during Breakfast with Santa. If you send the envelope filled out, and containing money, your student will be permitted to shop during lunch recess.

Just dance

I just love Pinterest! We found a pin with 30 short song videos from the Just Dane Wii game. It's great for a quick brain break.

A few FYI's

I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving. I had a nice break and some super good food. As a result, it's been a little difficult to get back into the swing of things.
One thing I want to mention is that I will be working the photo with Santa station at Breakfast with Santa on Saturday morning. I did this last year and had a wonderful time! Hope to see you there.
I also wanted to mention I added a pin from a website called "Storyline" on my parent and student board that is linked to this blog. You should see a place to click on the upper right side of this blog which will enable you to go to the board. This site is wonderful. A lot of different celebrities read stories aloud. If your child listens to a story, you can have them comment on this post and tell me what they listened to and how they liked the story.

Veteran's Day Assembly

Our Veteran's Day assembly was this morning. We had a wonderful turn out of veterans. I was so proud of the students for being so well behaved and such good listeners during the presentation. The boy scouts did the flag ceremony. The Character Choir sang, and all the veterans got to say a few words. Their stories are all so interesting, and they are truly touched by our program each year. I believe there were 33 veterans this year and I think each one thanked us for having them.

A few incidentals

We are collecting books boys would like for our Breakfast With Santa basket. Thanks to those of you who have donated books so far!! We are also still collecting nonperishable food donations for Feed My People, through our Kids Who Care campaign.
Dr. Morgan would like all the students to wear red, white and blue on Monday for our Veteran's Day assembly.
My aunt is turning 90 years old this weekend, so I won't be at Kennerly's Boutique on Saturday, but Happy Shopping!
By the way, I am accepting donations of black felt to be used for the chair legs. It keeps them from being noisy! The felt is only 25cents per square at the craft stores.
Thanks!

Kids Voting

The students went to the technology classroom to cast their votes today. They were able to vote on the laptops for president, senator and governor. Afterward they received "I voted" stickers, just like the grown ups. We will find out the results of the election next Wednesday. Do you think it will match the nationwide vote?

One More Halloween Post

This poem is titled: Three Little Ghostesses.

Halloween!

The spookiest bunch ever!!

Making spider webs.

A big thank you to all the grown up helpers!!

Blowing cotton ball "ghosts" down the hall.

Pin the witch nose on the clown was tricky!

There was no lack of fun!

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Halloween, I know I did!!

Catching Up

Fall is finally here! Today we decided to go up to the glass hallway and do some Yoga stretches   to get our blood pumping and our minds ready for learning.

Notice our use of technology? Ha!

Here is a video of the Seven Little Monsters poem we memorized this week!

I am looking forward to seeing all of you at conferences next week. There will be a book fair in the library during conferences. The students were able to look around the book fair today and are excited about all the book choices. Christmas is just around the corner!
The Halloween parade to Tesson Heights will be so much fun next Wednesday. I hope everyone saw the Costume Guidelines that were sent home by Dr. Morgan yesterday. Please have your child BRING their costume in a bag marked with their name. We will have time to change into our costumes before the party. I would like to ask (as a special favor to me) that no one comes to school wearing hair color. Since we do not dress up until the afternoon, it is a huge distraction the rest of the day. Thank you so much for your help! Happy Fall!!

Powder Valley

We had a wonderful time at Powder Valley today. The deer were very cooperative. My small group saw four deer and several squirrels. The students identified many different kinds of tree leaves and signs of fall. Thanks to all the chaperones who came along.(six in all) The students were well behaved and wonderful ambassadors for the Lindbergh School District.
Picnicing in the Butterfly Garden.

It was a little chilly, but we had fun.

This threesome is looking through the trees at three deer. They were very close .
